Most Redeeming Films of 2007

I like movies, I just don't go that often. Busy, its expensive, etc. But we do rent from time to time, and occassionally there is a good movie that comes along. Anyway, Christianity Today has a list of their Most Redeeming Films of 2007. I've seen one...the cartoon rat that cooks. The rest I'll get around to via rentals. If you're interested, click here to see their list and a short synopsis of each film.

  1. I thought that the "pro-life" spin they added to Juno was kind of a stretch. Especially, considering the teen pro life activist is completely portrayed as a nut.

It doesn't change the fact that I absolutely loved the movie. I just don't like when the Christian community has to squeeze the "Jesus juice" out of everything, just to prove that its okay to watch it.

  2. Haven't seen Juno yet, but hope to soon. Heard it was good, but interestingly the pro-abortion crowd finds it unrealistic. I agree with the "Jesus-juice" aspect of evaluating media, but not sure that's the intent of the list from CT - there are some great stories that come along that do have redeeming, even Biblical themes that are worth noting. Just watched a film last night called There Will Be War with Kiefer Sutherland and others. It is very, very good, with all sorts of Biblical themes. Come to think of it, shouldn't we all ooze Jesus juice??
