Chris Lizotte

A number of years ago, I had the privilege to take HS students to a summer conference in Kentucky, a yearly trek for our group for many years. It was and I'm sure still is a premier event that many kids look forward to each year (OK, and the lucky adults that get to go, too). One year, we were introduced to a new worship leader from California. Not only was he a little different from what we were used to, but so was his style of worship. I vaguely remember scratching my head for the first couple of days, wondering why this guy was invited. But then Wednesday came. Suddenly, something clicked, and for me and most of our group, we found ourselves in a somewhat mystical environment of worship. Up to that point, much of our "worship" during the morning sessions was happy-go-lucky, "If You're Happy And You Know It Bang Your Head" rock-band stuff. But this laid-back, ultra cool, I-don't-really-care-what-you-think-of-me guy named Chris just led us in a way that was unfamiliar. And it was good. In fact, it was revolutionary for my own personal growth, and I am glad to have intersected with Chris and his ministry.

It's been awhile since I've seen or heard much about Chris Lizotte. We still do several of his songs, as well as several that he introduced us to back in the day. I recently came across his webpage, and was glad to know that you can listen to a lot of his songs. His song "Brighter Day" is especially good. He's been hanging out and discipling a guy named Marc Ford, former guitar wizard for the Black Crows. Kinda cool story. So check out Chris, and listen to a coupla songs. He's unique, genuine, and talented. (And I don't think he fixes NBA games, sponsors dogfights, or uses steroids.) That's him with the beard; his wife (Christy, I think) in the pic. If you listen to "Brighter Day," Crystal Lewis is singing with Chris. Very cool (I believe they're brother & sister-in-laws).

  1. This is a really cool post, considering the state of worship, currently. I can relate to having trouble finding legitimate worship in Christianity today. Sadly, partly because of my choice in schooling. But, maybe thats just being cynical.

  2. I was 1st introduced to Chris at New Song Community Church where he did a free concert to promote Human Kind. It was an amazing experience to see how he meshed with our worship team (Gary Hemenway, Dave Sanders, Teddy Swensen and a few others.)

He is an extremely gifted and humble man. I grew up with Rockin' Blues and he takes me back to that place AS I worship God. What a wonderful gift when God can redeem something that was so dear to your past and use it to bring glory to Him. For me, Chris helps with that.

I was folding laundry and listening to Human Kind and decided to see what Chris was up to... Found this post...

  3. It has been a while since i have walked with Christ, falling back into my old flesh i am being broken at this time in my life. Realizing that i am nothing without him, the choices i make are unwise without him. I remembered when i worshiped that it was Chris Lizotte who truly blesses my spirit, I have his first "cassette" Free and his second CD Long Time Comin i then searched long and hard for anything he had to do with. As i am going thru a hard time at this moment trying to find my way back to Jesus and cleaning to try to avoid my mind from thinking of things to come upon me i found my Human kind CD, I know the spirit fell upon me busting into tears calling on the lord to resue me totally braking me this morning. He is truly gifted, his spirit is in tune and we can only be used if we are willing, sure we go thru ups and downs but me being this long away from Christ and to see Chris still serving has truly blessed me this morning. Thank you letting me share

  4. I...just 3 days ago...picked up Chris's CD Signal Hill Revival.(with Marc Ford on lead guitar)

Absolutly stunning. Spectacularly good. Why in the world cant there be more music like this in the christian music genre???

Tried looking around on the internet for more, but not having much luck. Anyone know where I can get more. (I have no use for "downloads". I'm looking for CD's)
